Coomoora 360: 2013-14 Round 2 report with Scott May and Simon Corrigan

Corrigan: 2013/14 season has seen some significant captaincy changes – there’s been a few.

Smay: Absolutely, exciting to see Pig, Owie and Nutting take on big leadership roles. And Franga of course just keeps on winning.

Corrigan: I thought we’d focus on David Nutting this week and how he’s travelling.

Smay: What’s all this about his new nickname "David Larding" I’ve been hearing?

Corrigan: No idea made. He’s started well though – two comfortable wins.

Smay: Very nice start, I was a part of the first victory and he looked in complete control, apart from his 11pm Friday night text telling me I was opening.

Corrigan: He must have had a few that night. Love the signature move of Daniel Caughey to first drop.

Smay: About time Caughey stopped hiding in the lower order.

Corrigan: Yes young Daniel in fact struggled in the middle order, averaging only 11 last year.

Smay: Meanwhile a renaissance with the bat for "TheDan", 90 runs so far at an average of 45.

Corrigan: Makes you wonder why last year’s captain didn’t bat himself higher.

Smay: Good question Corig. He’s certainly off to a big start though, let’s see if 2013/14 will be year of #thedan.

Corrigan: The other thing I’ve been looking at is the spinners stats.

Smay: Oh really?

Corrigan: Not you, you’re bowling is retired. Robbie Johnson is known to prance around calling himself the sheik of tweak, thought we’d work out most potent spinner by strike rate. I’ve compared the top 6 Coomoora recognised spinners.

Smay: Drum Roll.

Corrigan: In 6th place is D. Nutting* with a strike rate of 40.48.

Smay: What’s the asterix for?

Corrigan: He doesn’t turn the ball

Smay Fair enough.

Corrigan: 5th is his redness Steven Zach at 40.48.

Smay: That’s going to dive this year, he will tear it up on synthetic.

Corrigan: 4th and 3rd place is an effective tie between Jake and Robbie – both in the mid 30’s.

Smay: Perhaps Robbie’s not the sheik of tweak then?

Corrigan: 2nd place comes to the up and coming Dean Casper Ponton with a strike rate of 32.41.

Smay: And drum roll…

Corrigan: The most dangerous spinner? 1st place goes to Jabba with a strike rate of 29.46

Smay: See you next week big fella. Go roos.
