Coomoora Land Gun Roo-cruit

In the first of several big on-field announcements to be made in coming weeks, the Coomoora Cricket Club is delighted to announce the first of our key signings for the 2014/15 season, Saliya Saman.

New Roo-cruit Saliya Saman

New Roo-cruit Saliya Saman

A 6ft 2 opening bowler and swashbuckling middle-order batsman, Saman has shared his time throughout the past 5 years between his home of Sri Lanka (playing first class cricket) and England (currently for Netherfield CC). Also a fully qualified coach, we can’t wait to see the fantastic impact he’ll have both on and off-field as we commence our charge up the ladder this Summer.

Check out below for links to both his stats in first class cricket, and also a recent news article following one of his gobsmacking performances in the UK.

Saman is set to commence a dangerous new-ball partnership in the upcoming season with our returning Englishman Joey Hawke.

At this point in time we’d like to offer our thanks and best wishes to Paul Hill and Andrew O’Meara who are returning to Noble Park after several fantastic seasons with our club. The impact that both of these individuals had at Coomoora was profound (the club won a combined 3 premierships in Hilly’s 3 years as captain-coach), and without either of them it is highly doubtful that we’d find ourselves in the position we are today. We look forward to having both of these good club people back at the Roo in future years.
