Match Report: F Grade, 2013-14 Round 3

The undefeated forfs went in to round 3 without their supposed leader Franga, who disappeared to Adelaide for footy trip over Cup weekend, leaving recently returned Dave Barrera in charge of the streak for the fortnight. Even vice-captain Vakshan deserted the boys by attending McHappy Day (Fact).

Losing the toss and bowling, the streak looked in danger with Berwick Springs getting to 5/190 in quick succession, before the ball was handed to 12 year old Jake Robertson, who not only knocked over the bloke on 105 but ripped through the tail to claim 5/13 in a devastating 6 over spell! Berwick Springs all out for 202.

In response the boys were stoically led from the front by the stand-in skipper, with Barrera opening the batting and not being dismissed until the 6th wicket, making 25 and giving the lads a platform to explode, and explode they did! Nathan Usher (45) and Buster (51 including six 6’s) dished out some punishment before star of the show Jake chimed in with 41 in an amazing 44 run final wicket partnership with the MAD DOG (3*), to finish the game off at 280. The forfs remain undefeated throughout 2013!

To say that the captain’s position in the side is under a dark and stormy cloud is clearly an enormous understatement. Let the good times (and Franga’s head) roll!
