Match Report: Turf Four, 2013-14 Round 2 with David Nutting

Coming up against the traditional rival – Springy South , the opposition chose to bat on a bit of a two- paced pitch, and it proved to be their downfall as Pig and Dillon Gemmel-Smith (DGS) were unplayable at times and although they both went wicket less they were able to stop the scoring down to nothing more than a dribble.

In what was proven a masterstroke by yours truly – Joel ‘Nut’ Robertson was brought on with immediate impact, getting the breakthrough by ways of a ripper catch from Lammy at covers. From there on wickets fell regularly, with Cooge (#thedan) taking a blinder at 1st slip off the skipper who was turning them right angles. Blue once again showed that although he’s old as sh#t he gets the job done in any conditions, taking 6/40 off 17. Springy South all out for 126.

Apart from the early loss of Blue, the batting from then on was outstanding in difficult conditions, with new opener Lammy and Cooge sticking out 19.3 overs at the end of the day only for Lammy to be hit by a full bunger on the stumps in the final over.

#thedan and #thejab led the lads home with a brilliantly compiled 70 run partnership in week two to finish the game at 3/130. Coogey leading the way with 60 and Jabba 30 not out.
