Round 1 Coomoora 360 with Scott May and Simon Corrigan

Steven Zach commenced his captaincy in the 3rds this week. The side will benefit from his extensive experience and particularly his tutoring abilities for the slow bowlers (Let’s not forget the big fella took 18 wickets @ 22.56 in Turf 4 last year). Although he had a rough start as captain, Zachy can take some hope – the last time the 3rds lost outright in round one was 2008/2009. A mere 2 years later, they were premiers. Secondly, the loss was to Lynbrook who are a traditionally strong team and finished top last year. Expect a bounce-back as the 3rds face up to traditional rivals Narre North this week.

Meanwhile, the other big news is the amazing 4th’s captaincy of one S. Francis. He’s on an absolutely huge hot streak – he has not lost a game as captain in 2013 (FACT). Last Saturday chalked up his 8th straight win in a row. Bernie May says that hasn’t been done in the 4th’s since he was playing juniors. Even more amazing is the 4ths ability to carry their captain. In these 8 wins, his largest contribution has been 17*.
