Round 1 Match Report – A Grade

In his first game as captain Zachy got off to a great start at home against flag favourite Lynbrook by winning the toss, but unfortunately the run of good luck ended there. Batting first the boys only managed to get to 80, Doogs top scoring with 17 (a brilliant effort considering he didn’t make a run before Christmas last season). In response the Lakers hammered their way to 5/205 from 33 overs before declaring.

Set the task of saving the outright the boys put up a valiant fight in the second dig, managing 157 and nearly batting the game out (Rossco managing a typically gritty 21 whilst the skipper and Brad Harbert got 40’s). Unfortunately they would fall just short as Lynbrook knocked off the 35 runs required in quick succession, but some returning players added with the positives of the second innings should hold them in good stead for this week.
