Round Five – Third XI Match Report

Gavin Fist on his way to a career best 7/34!

Gavin Fist on his way to a career best 7/34!

Our A grade boys came up against Silverton in Round 5. Winnning the toss and batting on the first day seemed ideal,  however losing 3 early wickets within the first 10 overs got us off to a bad start. Sanjeeva and Lahiru then steadied the ship to put on a a partnership of 62 runs before Sanjeeva was dismissed on 40. The team then finished all out for 100 just after tea.

Defending 100 we desperately needed early wickets. Enter Gavin Fist. His second over taking two wickets both caught by Ross Duguid (who previously hadn’t taken one all year, dropping 6). Overnight Gavin ended up at 6-34 with Shannon at the other end bowling his unplayable rockets with 2-10. End of the days play we had them 8-123. Week 2 we rolled them in 6 overs, Gavin ending up on with career best of 7-34. Well bowled G.Fist (and good luck this week in your turf debut)!

In the 2nd innings we batted for 55 overs, finishing at 7-113 with runs from everyone. A highlight was first gamer Adam Low making 20 not out.
Next week we are home against top placed Berwick Springs.
